We had a great ensemble cast and movie from Ocean's Eleven. Let's remember them: George Clooney, Bernie Mac, Brad Pitt, Elliot Gould, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, Eddie Jemison, Andy Garcia, Shaobo Qin, Carl Reiner, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle and Julia Roberts. Wow. Now let's add them even more: Catherine Zeta-Jones, Vincent Cassel, Robbie Coltrane and Bruce Willis. So now we should expect a great sequel, right?
However, the formula didn't work in that case. It was so far away from the glamour of the first movie, I was unable to recognize the characters. All of them, without exception, all of them lost all their charisma completely. I mean look at Andy Garcia's character in first then in the second movie. One of my favorite characters played by Carl Reiner, the high roller, exactly same thing happened to him. From Matt Damon to Brad Pitt to all the characters. Before seeing director's name in the credits I was saying myself 'You see how much difference it makes when you change the director?'. I was literally shocked when I saw that it was same director with Ocean's Eleven: Steven Soderbergh. Wow, what a dramatic change.
The story is also so dull that you can't follow. Since you can't follow, you can't understand. Since you can't understand, you can't enjoy.
Even the use of music, cinematography was not same. Maybe it is my personal perception, since I didn't like the movie, but this is what I felt.
One of the worst sequel ever made. This is my personal opinion, of course. At the end, we should know what movies to avoid as well what movies to watch, shouldn't we? You might like it though.
"-Hands up! This is a robbery!"
