We are a kind of in Facebook era. So are you curious about the story of how Facebook was born? How did this terrific idea come to life? Oh by the way, whose idea was this? But what is the reason of presence of this movie in this heist movies blog?
The movie claims to tell the true story of Facebook. It suggests that the idea of Facebook was stolen. We aren`t sure about the truth but the movie assumes so, and we are witnessing one of the biggest idea theft of our time in this movie.
Is this movie can be counted as heist movie? Why not? Idea theft isn't stealing? The movie actually falls to biography and drama genres before it falls to heist. So I can categorize it as Alternative Theft Movie.
The movie is signed by a genius director of our time, David Fincher. It was a big hit at box office and at cinema awards. Nominated and won tones of awards. Won Best Picture in Golden Globes. Nominated for the same category in BAFTA, MTV Movie Awards and People's Choice Awards. Got nomination at all American Guild Awards. Many Critics awards. And 8 Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor, Directing and won 3 of them: Editing, Original Score and Adapted Screenplay.
Jesse Eisenberg, who plays Facebook's creater Mark Zuckerberg did a very good job in my opinion. He deserved his Oscar nomination but wasn't better than Collin Firth who took Oscar home at the end.
So, there is an award monster, a very serious idea theft movie in front of you. If you haven't seen it yet, you need to.
